ABOUT THIS COURSE:
New York City’s building emissions law, Local Law 97, will transform the retrofit market. It’s critical that building operations & maintenance staff understand what the law calls for and how to comply. Take this on-demand class to understand how LL97 is driving carbon as a building performance metric, and what your building may need to do to prepare.
This on-demand course is a free bonus class for GPRO Operations & Maintenance students.
AFTER THIS COURSE, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Recognize the relationship between energy and carbon coming from buildings, and how they relate to environmental sustainability.
- Understand the foundation of building performance data and laws that led to New York City's most ambitious climate law, Local Law 97.
- Describe the most important components of Local Law 97 that building operators need to know in order to successfully and sustainably operate their buildings.
- Navigate the different ways to comply with Local Law 97 and choose the right building improvements and operations best practices to reduce carbon emissions.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS:
To receive continuing education credits, students must achieve an 80% on the learning comprehension quiz at the end of the course. The quiz can be taken as many times as needed in order to pass.

- AIA CES: Approved for 0.5 LU/HSW Hours

Danielle Manley, Policy Manager, Urban Green Council
Danielle is responsible for working on Urban Green’s policy initiatives in New York City and New York State. She previously worked at the Center for Climate Systems Research at Columbia University’s Earth Institute researching and communicating local climate risk information for stakeholders in global cities and ecosystems.
