What is this course about?

When it comes to heat pump system maintenance, it’s time to stop guessing and start measuring! In this hands-on course, you’ll learn how to take three key temperature readings using simple, reliable tools to quickly and easily gauge heat pump performance. No complicated gadgets, no wasted time—just practical skills you can put to work the moment you leave class.

You’ll learn to troubleshoot common issues, spot patterns in system performance, and use simple maintenance logs to prevent problems before they escalate. Through practice activities, you’ll have the chance to test your knowledge and interpret heat pump data. By the end of the course, you’ll have a reliable routine for keeping mini split and multi-split heat pump systems running efficiently—and the confidence to handle issues before they become tenant complaints.

What will you learn?

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Measure supply air, return air, and room air temperatures using simple, reliable tools.
  • Interpret temperature readings and determine the acceptable ranges for your specific system.
  • Diagnose common performance issues when temperature readings are out of range and identify appropriate corrective actions.
  • Record and track key maintenance data—such as temperatures, complaints, and leak checks—to improve long-term system performance.
