Mastering Construction Waste Management

What is this course about?

Over 90% of construction waste can be recycled. Oftentimes however, unless a project is pursuing LEED credits, waste isn’t managed carefully enough to do so. The way in which waste is generated, managed, and collected from the jobsite greatly impacts the recyclability of the material. Sorting technology, local infrastructure, and commodity markets dictate the rest. While it’s very important to select a responsible waste hauler and sorter, the ultimate recyclability of each material depends on how it is managed on the jobsite.

This on-demand class will highlight the specific, cost-effective opportunities to improve material diversion rates on construction projects, and how careful management and tracking can help.

What will you learn?

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe the impact that construction waste has on the natural environment
  • Use the hierarchy of waste reduction opportunities to limit overall waste intensity
  • Implement strategies on a jobsite to increase landfill diversion percentage
  • Gather and communicate consistent, accurate and compliant waste data
